Lecture on Human Rights in Australia

Lecture on Human Rights in Australia

On Friday 23rd March, Meriter Professor Dr Susan Ballyn (University of Barcelona ) gave a lecture to our Year 1 Baccalaureate students about Human Rights in Australia. Dr Ballyn took our students through the history of Australia, focusing on episodes such as The Stolen Generation, their current immigration policies and the reality of the Boat People Down Under. At the end of her talk, she merged Australia´s situation with that currently being experienced in Europe with regard to illegal immigration and detention centres.
Year 1 Baccalaureate students will be focusing on Human Rights this term. Dr Ballyn´s lecture was enlightening and a good stepping stone to start reflecting upon this topic.
