EXCHANGE WITH "THE WESTGATE SCHOOL" (WINCHESTER)

Some 3rd ESO pupils that took part in this year's exchange give us their impressions about it.

It was unbelievable!
During the week that we were in Winchester, a nice village in the South of England we could learn about their life style and their customs. We visited Bath, London and Portsmouth. The families were very kind. They worried a lot about us but many of the customs were was different. The English people ate picnic on the ground. The weather was very changeable, English weather, as they call it.
Finally, we learnt a lot about how Spanish people really are and we made great friends for the future.

On the 23rd of April I went with other people of my course to England on an exchange. I learned a lot and I enjoyed the whole week. The food was very nice because they had lived 5 years in France and they knew French recipes. One day I ate fish and chips, the typical English food and it was very tasty. The experience of this exchange was very nice. If next year the school organizes another exchange to the same place or somewhere else, I will go.

Last April we went to England for an exchange. We left on the 23rd and we returned on the 29th. One day we went to London. It was very interesting. We took a tourist bus and we saw the Big Ben, the Tower Bridge and many more things. Another day we went to Bath and we visited the Roman Baths there. On Friday we went to Portsmouth. This village is on the coast. We visited two ships and we took another one. It was very windy. At the weekend I went to the zoo and I also went to the cinema. I saw a film about a boy. On Monday we saw the cathedral of Winchester and the Round Table. I liked this exchange.

All things were really different from the things that we were used to do. We were prepared to try new things because we weren’t in our country. Something that was surprising for us was that they have a lot of parks.
The food was also really different and new for us because not all people know what they are eating.

This new experience in which you have to live with an English family during a week shows you that the language is very important. English people are very friendly and sociable. The first problem that you have is that you think that it will be very boring or very different but it is the same, they eat the same food and they do the same activities like going to school, or going to the cinema (…)
